The CUNY School of Medicine (CUNY SoM) located in the heart of Harlem, New York, is the only medical school in the City University of New York system and the only public medical school in Manhattan. Building upon 50 years of success as the Sophie Davis School of Biomedical Education, the institution transitioned to the CUNY School of Medicine (SoM) in 2016.
The CUNY SoM offers an accelerated BS/MD degree (7‑year program) and a Physician Assistant Master’s Degree (27 months program). True to its legacy of access, opportunity, and community transformation, the medical school’s mission remains to recruit highly talented students as diverse as New York City itself. CUNY SoM places a special emphasis on training high quality, culturally competent health professionals and scientists equipped to address the healthcare needs of New York’s medically under‑served communities.
As a major priority, CUNY SoM also seeks to enhance the recruitment and retention of senior leadership, faculty, and staff to more closely reflect the diversity of our student body.
The Learning Resource Center is searching for an individual to serve as an Academic Research Center Specialist. They will evaluate students’ academic progress, provide recommendations to improve individual test‑taking, studying skills, and learning methods throughout the course of the program; and they will also help coordinate and communicate educational expectations to students. The Specialist will report to the Director of the Learning Resource Center.
QUALIFICATIONSBachelor’s degree and eight years’ related experience required.
PREFERREDA Master’s Degree or higher in a related field
Experience in delivering Higher Education Academic/Educational Skills for Health Care Professionals and/or related fields.
Use technology in an effective manner for teaching, communicating, analyzing, and reporting
Familiarity with the NCCPA, PANCE Blueprint, PACKRAT Exams, Exam Master, and other standardized test
Administers the activities of a learning resource or support center.
Supports the design and delivery of academic resources such as tutoring, remedial and other student programs and services, delivered in a variety of modes, including on‑line
Produces and administers training programs, lectures, workshops, seminars and special events
Collaborates with various College offices to improve student and faculty services; implements new services and assures existing services are effectively provided.
Serves as resource expert for students and faculty regarding center policies and procedures, and if needed, technology issues related to their learning experience
May assist and/or supervise office operations and/or department budget

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITSSalary Range: $68,364- $79,598
Salary commensurate with education and experience.
