Position Title:

Special Education (SPED) Teacher

Employment Type:

Full-time (37.5 hours/week) Contract Duration: 5 years Overview The Special Education Teacher will provide specialized instructional support to students with disabilities, ensuring compliance with state and federal education regulations. This role involves developing and maintaining Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and 504 plans while collaborating with general education teachers and support teams to address students’ unique learning needs.

Key Responsibilities Implement individualized educational plans (IEPs) and provide necessary accommodations per 504 plans. Support classroom educators by providing interventions tailored to students' needs. Maintain detailed logs of student progress, including consultant logs for assigned students. Facilitate referrals for Committee on Special Education (CSE) meetings, Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs), and Functional Behavior Assessments (FBAs). Draft and finalize IEPs/504 plans based on comprehensive educational assessments, direct observations, and feedback from teachers, guardians, and students.

Lead and participate actively in CSE meetings, providing essential documentation and data. Manage records and compliance paperwork for annual and tri-annual reviews. Coordinate parental communication and educational initiatives to promote student success beyond the classroom. Apply evidence-based instructional strategies to enhance learning outcomes. Develop and maintain positive classroom management techniques to foster a structured learning environment. Adhere to security protocols and confidentiality standards.

Qualifications

Education:

Bachelor’s or higher degree in Special Education. Certification:
Valid Special Education Teacher Certification (grades 7-12 or equivalent).

Experience:

1-3 years of experience working as a special education teacher. Legal Authorization:
Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.

Skills:

Strong organizational, time management, and communication abilities. Experience working in structured environments with at-risk youth preferred.

Compensation: $40.00 per hour
