Youth Programs Restoration Educator at Wave Hill

Responsibilities- Supervise and instruct a group of 30 students.
- Implement all aspects of the course including teaching lessons, leading in‑class activities, evaluating students, and conducting general course administration in both indoor and outdoor environments, including field trips.
- Manage Google Classroom course content.
- Coordinate student’s summer‑long final projects that incorporate field data collection and analysis.
- Collaborate with the Youth Programs Manager to adjust or update course curriculum when necessary.
- Undergraduate degree in Biology, Forestry, Environmental Science, or related natural sciences field;
Master’s degree preferred. - Familiarity with ecological restoration and natural areas in and around New York City.
- Experience working with teens or young adults in a formal academic setting.
- Enthusiastic, organized, strong interpersonal skills, and flexible in handling different situations.
- Proficient computer skills including Microsoft Office and Google Suite.
The Educator primarily works in Wave Hill’s Woodlands and Ecology Building, which is accessed by stairs. When outdoors, the Educator travels through all of Wave Hill’s Woodlands, both on and off path. Off‑duty time may involve work in shared youth programs office space.
Schedule and SalarySeasonal position paid by stipend: orientation in June, teaching two days per week in July and August, with a stipend of $5,000.
