General Description

As we launch our new Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) program, we seek a passionate and knowledgeable MRI Instructor to join our team and prepare students for rewarding careers in this advanced field of healthcare. This full‑time, 10‑month grant‑funded position offers a typical teaching load of 15 lecture hours or 18 lecture/lab hours per semester, with teaching assignments that may include day, evening, or weekend hours.

The instructor will develop and implement curriculum, facilitate hands‑on training in MRI techniques and safety protocols, and assess student learning outcomes.

The role also includes program coordination, student advisement, assessment of learning outcomes, participation in divisional and college activities, and all duties outlined in the Faculty Handbook. The successful candidate will work 162 days per academic year (August–May) with winter and spring breaks.

Typical Work Activities Instruction
  • Teach MRI courses covering fundamental MRI principles, anatomy, physiology, patient care, MRI safety, and imaging procedures.
  • Provide instruction that helps students meet all course outcomes and classroom objectives.
  • Identify, select, and modify instructional resources to meet students’ diverse needs.
  • Develop, integrate, and deliver course content, including syllabi and assessments.
  • Develop and administer tests, practical exams, and assignments to assess knowledge and skills.
  • Establish and maintain a classroom climate consistent with SUNY Niagara’s mission and vision.
  • Communicate effectively orally and in writing with students and professionals.
  • Collaborate with faculty and the AVP of Academic Affairs to design and update course materials.
  • Ensure practices comply with accreditation standards and industry guidelines.
  • Provide at least five office hours per week.
  • Oversee MRI lab sessions, instruct students on operating MRI equipment, and ensure safety protocols.
  • Provide academic guidance, monitor student progress, and support students’ success.
Professional Development
  • Participate in professional development activities and keep current with MRI technology.
  • Attend faculty development opportunities, including program‑specific and campus‑wide meetings.
Administrative Duties
  • Meet requirements for documentation and paperwork.
  • Participate in curriculum monitoring and provide feedback to the Program Coordinator or AVP of Academic Affairs.
  • Complete required reporting such as attendance, census, learning outcome progress, and grade entry.
  • Attend required college functions and meetings.
  • Participate in faculty senate and divisional committees.
  • Advise students on classes and career options.
  • As program coordinator, assure effective operations, oversee accreditation and assessment, participate in budget planning, maintain knowledge, lead program development, manage record‑keeping, counseling board, hiring adjunct faculty, and update clinical site information.
Essential Functions

Must be able to operate laboratory equipment; navigate relationships with a diverse population; operate computers; speak to groups; perform diagnostic examinations; explain complex concepts; supervise and motivate students; teach a variety of learners; prepare reports; perform duties physically; relate to senior department members and administration.

Required Qualifications
  • Associate of Applied Science in Radiologic Technology and a Master’s in Radiologic Technology, MRI Technology, or related field.
  • ARRT certification.
  • Two years of full‑time or equivalent experience as an imaging technologist.
  • Proven expertise in MRI technology, with comprehensive knowledge and proficiency in operating MRI equipment.
