OverviewThe floater oversees the environment in an assigned classroom, assuring child health and safety, supporting the appropriate curriculum, and building positive relationships with children, parents, and staff.
Position Type / Expected HoursThis is a part‑time position; days and hours of work are generally Monday through Friday, 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., 25 hours per week.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities- Provide room coverage at lunch, for additional prep/writing time opportunities, and classroom coverage to support students/classrooms having difficulty napping, teachers in training, and as necessary.
- Maintain classroom management, sanitation, and safety, and support student transitions.
- Provide a normal routine by maintaining daily schedule adherence.
- Keep classroom staff and school administration informed concerning children and issues.
- Maintain the agency’s policies and procedures.
- Attend ongoing training.
- 18 years and older.
- HS diploma and willingness to obtain New York State Teaching Assistant Certification.
- A desire to work with children through positive interaction.
- Prior experience preferred but not necessary.
- Dependable, flexible, and team player required.
Demonstrate full range of motion; be able to lift up to 40 lbs.; maintain mental and physical alertness and an appropriate level of energy to perform essential job requirements.
