Reading Partners - Volunteer Tutor

Overview

Tutoring takes place from Monday through Thursday between 8am and 3pm. Commit to leading one-on-one, 45-minute tutoring sessions with a student grade K-4 on a weekly basis. Follow the Reading Partners structured curriculum. Sessions are held at the same day/time and with the same student each week. Tutors should arrive/log on for their session at least 20 minutes early. Follow the guidelines in our Tutor Code of Conduct.

In-person tutoring at one of our reading centers in the following neighborhoods:
Lower East Side, Central Harlem, East Harlem, South Bronx, South Jamaica (Queens) and Bed Stuy. All lesson materials are provided Reading Partners provides ongoing coaching and support.

• A positive attitude toward learning, diversity, and students
• An ability to interact effectively with diverse student populations
• Complete a volunteer application and a background check with the NYC DOE
• Complete a 1.5 hour orientation to learn the basics of our program
• Follow schools and Reading Partners COVID policies
