MVCC's School of Humanities invites applications for part-time Adjunct Instructors in English Composition (with and without Integrated Learning Support).

Ideal candidates will have:

• Community college teaching experience
• Basic knowledge of grade and attendance reporting systems
• Proficient skill with Microsoft Office or related platforms
• Experience working with students and colleagues from diverse backgrounds and with diverse needs

Adjunct faculty members teach contracted classes in accordance with established policies and guidelines. Courses may be taught in traditional classroom settings, virtually, or a combination. Specific assignments will be made according to the academic qualifications and availability of the individual and the School needs.
Please note:
Successful candidates must be able to teach in‑person. Courses available for the upcoming semester are in‑person only on the Utica Campus between the hours of 8:00am and 4:30pm.

• Facilitate classroom instruction
• Teach assigned class in accordance with the learning objectives
• Develop and maintain syllabus materials
• Evaluate student performance
• Maintain grades, enter midterm and final grades
• Respond promptly to student inquiries
• Maintain attendance records according to MVCC standards
• Integrate current and emerging instructional delivery technologies into the learning process
• Maintain professional standards that protect student confidentiality
• Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing using discretion, patience, and courtesy

Successful candidates must reside in New York State and have the ability to work on campus as required.

• Master’s degree in related field & Bachelor’s degree in discipline (English)
