Assistant Professor - Computer Science
Location: College of Staten Island, The City University of New York (CUNY)
The College of Staten Island (CSI) invites applications for a tenure‑track Assistant Professor position in the Department of Computer Science. The position focuses on artificial intelligence, machine learning, security, data science, mobile computing, distributed computing, or cloud computing, but candidates in other areas of Computer Science are also encouraged.
Responsibilities- Teach undergraduate and graduate computer science courses.
- Establish a nationally recognized research program in computational science.
- Participate in faculty service and contribute to the department’s mission.
Required: PhD (or ABD with conferral by start of Fall 2026) in Computer Science or closely related discipline; demonstrated excellence in teaching and scholarship; ability to cooperate with others for institutional good.
- Strong peer‑reviewed publication record.
- Experience initiating research projects and credentials appropriate for appointment to the doctoral faculty of the CUNY Graduate Center.
- Research and teaching interests in AI, machine learning, security, data science, mobile computing, distributed computing, or cloud computing.
- Potential to secure externally funded research grants in these fields.
- Commitment to undergraduate and graduate teaching and to doctoral education through the CUNY‑wide program.
$79,598 - $86,741 (salary commensurate with education and experience). Salaries adjusted by 3.5% effective 9/1/26 under PSC‑CUNY collective bargaining agreement.
Comprehensive benefits include health insurance, pension/retirement, paid parental leave, and savings programs. Mentoring and support for research, scholarship, and publication are provided.
