The department of Exercise and Nutrition Sciences within the School of Public Health and Health Professions invites applicants for a full‑time, 10‑month Assistant or Associate Professor position in Exercise Science. This tenure‑track position will begin in August 2026. Applicants conducting research in environmental physiology, respiratory physiology, and cardiovascular physiology are particularly desired, but all relevant fields will be considered. The ideal candidate will establish a line of research that complements or builds on current strengths of the School.
Key Responsibilities- Establish and maintain an externally funded research program.
- Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in Exercise Science.
- Mentor undergraduate and graduate students and participate in service activities (department, school, university, and professional organizations).
- Candidates desiring appointment at the associate professor level must have an established line of research and publications consistent with tenure at a Research‑1 institution.
The Department of Exercise and Nutrition Sciences is one of the academic units in the School of Public Health & Health Professions. It offers well‑established research programs and excellent facilities. Degrees offered include: B.S. in Exercise Science; B.S. in Nutritional Sciences; B.S./M.S. in Exercise Nutrition; M.S. in Clinical Nutrition leading to the Registered Dietician credential; M.S. in Athletic Training; M.S. degrees in Nutrition and Exercise Science;
and Ph.D. degrees in Exercise Science and Nutrition. The Department hosts the Center for Research and Education in Special Environments (CRESE), a state‑of‑the‑art facility for research at altitude, depth, and extremes of temperature.

Minimum Qualifications- An earned doctorate in exercise science, kinesiology, physiology, or related field.
- Postdoctoral research training.
- Record of peer‑reviewed scientific publications consistent with experience.
- Current extramural funding required for those entering as associate professor.
- Evidence of securing external funding.
- Relevant teaching experience in higher education.
$80,000 - $93,000
Additional Salary InformationFull‑time, 10‑month. South Campus.
