Overview
We as First Baptist Church prayerfully seek the man called by God to serve as our pastor, who preaches and teaches the truth of God’s Word and leads our members in spiritual growth and development. As pastor and shepherd, he should provide leadership for all functions of the church. The pastor serves as moderator for all business aspects of the church including supervision of other paid church staff.
The pastor will be accountable to the congregation and leadership, coordinating through deacons and appointed committees. He plans all worship services and serves as spiritual leader of the church. The pastor leads the membership to fulfill the functions of the church: worship, minister, educate, witness and fellowship. The pastor serves to coordinate in the community to foster a healthy spiritual relationship in the surrounding area.
Licensed and ordained seminary graduate with more than five years of ministry experience is preferred, but we will also consider other Bible college credentials and other ministry experience. The church supports the growth of the pastor in all areas of his education or learning. The pastor shall meet the spiritual qualifications indicated in Acts 20:28, I Timothy 3:1-7 and I Peter 5:1-4.
He should be an effective communicator with a leadership vision who emphasizes discipleship and spiritual growth. The pastor needs to have a mentoring spirit with the church membership. He should emphasize the importance of strong families and communicate well with all ages. Our preference is that he be married. He should be a counselor and teacher who enables persons to learn and understand spiritual truths and be a consistent witness for Christ who leads church members in effective outreach ministries to draw people to Christ and grow the congregation spiritually and physically.
He needs to assist others with personal and/or spiritual problems.
Salary package ($50,000 to $60,000) is negotiable depending on experience and qualifications and subject to increase based upon future spiritual and physical growth of the church. While our preference is a full-time pastor, possible combinations of a bi-vocational and entrepreneurial nature will be considered.
