About Code/ArtCode/Art is a non‑profit whose mission is to increase the number of girls studying computer science by delighting and inspiring them with the creative possibilities of computer programming. We strive to put young women, particularly young women from underrepresented racial and ethnic groups, on track for future tech careers by providing welcoming early coding programs that focus on art, creativity and social good.

Code/Art is seeking a reliable and enthusiastic Part‑Time Lead Instructor to oversee a weekly Code/Art Club for students in grades 3–8. This role is ideal for someone passionate about coding, education, and making tech more inclusive and accessible. As the Lead Instructor, you’ll be responsible not only for facilitating the club’s weekly in‑person sessions, but also for managing a small team of instructors, organizing planning meetings, and serving as the main point of contact for both parents and venue staff.
You’ll play a key role in maintaining lesson continuity, onboarding new students, and ensuring a welcoming, inclusive, and fun club environment.
- Attend an initial training session.
- Review lessons for each age group before each session and be prepared to teach or assist for each activity.
- Manage and support a team of assistant instructors and volunteers.
- Help coordinate seasonal events (e.g. holiday parties, end‑of‑term showcases.
- Communicate regularly with parents/guardians about student progress and club updates.
- Onboard new students and support them as they integrate into the group.
- Communicate any questions or concerns to Code/Art’s Programs Manager.
- Foster a welcoming, inclusive, and engaging learning environment for all participants.
- A current college student studying computer science or a related STEM field, OR a recent graduate/early‑career professional in tech or education.
- Experience working with youth in a classroom or informal education setting is a plus.
- Reliable, punctual, and enthusiastic about inspiring the next generation of coders.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
- Must pass a background check.
Instructors work as independent contractors. Rate is $25/hour.
A typical instructor works 25–40 hours per semester.
Additional teaching opportunities with Code/Art’s Code/Art Clubs & events may be available for those wanting more hours.
