  • Valid New York State certification in at least:
    Earth Science 7-12 or in a program leading to certification
  • Preferred:
    Additional science certification area
Essential Duties

Albion Central School District is seeking a passionate and dedicated High School Earth Science Teacher to inspire and educate students in the field of Earth sciences. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Earth Science, excellent classroom management skills, and the ability to develop engaging lesson plans that foster critical thinking and scientific inquiry. This position involves teaching various levels of Earth Science, including general Earth Science, Regents‑level courses, and potential advanced or elective offerings.

Responsibilities
  • Plan and deliver engaging, rigorous biology lessons aligned with state standards.
  • Teach fundamental and advanced Earth Science concepts, including geology, meteorology, astronomy, and oceanography.
  • Design and facilitate hands‑on laboratory experiments to enhance student learning.
  • Integrate technology and digital resources to support instruction and student engagement.
  • Assess student progress through assignments, exams, and projects, providing constructive feedback.
  • Foster a positive, inclusive classroom environment that encourages curiosity and scientific exploration.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to develop interdisciplinary learning experiences.
  • Prepare students for standardized tests, college readiness, and future careers in science.
  • Maintain accurate records of student performance and communicate progress with parents and guardians.
  • Support the administration in implementing district policies and school regulations related to student life and conduct.
  • Attend scheduled meetings and serve on district and school committees.
  • Ensure compliance with legal and district requirements by maintaining accurate and complete records.
  • Pursue professional growth through ongoing reading, workshops, seminars, and conferences.
  • Regularly grade assignments and provide timely feedback to help students track their progress and address challenges early.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the building principal or district administrator.

Requirements
  • NYS Certification in Earth Science 7-12 or in a program leading to certification
  • Preference: NYS Certification in multiple science areas
  • Fingerprint clearance through NYSED TEACH;
    Drug Testing; current TB test; current Physical (less than one year old) – all completed upon being hired for employment

Terms of Employment:
Ten‑month year; salary to be established by the Board of Education; follows the ATA contract – (Step 1 – $49,037 – $55,000) Evaluation:
Completed by Administration and follows ATA contract.
