The Academic Interventionist is responsible for working directly with students to provide tutoring, coaching, goal-setting, and academic case management to achieve measurable improvements in academic performance.
Duties / Responsibilities- Instructional Intervention
- Develop academic lesson plans based on students" individual learning needs as required: intervention should be engaging as well as enable learning and recall of new knowledge strengthened through different exposures of “doing” (i.e., seeing, hearing, touching, etc.)
- Use data to facilitate students’ improvement and increase engagement as a result of their sustained participation in KIPP’s blended learning programs
- Provide students with daily feedback on mastery performance in character and academics
- Facilitate intervention that is collaborative and is socially-centered, allowing young people to build skills through learning as a team
- Lead small-group tutoring, coaching, goal-setting, and academic case management designed to bridge the gaps in students’ understanding.
- Perform routine administrative office tasks as required, including but not limited to preparing reports and correspondence, copying and filing documents, answering the telephone, sending and receiving documents and emails, entering and retrieving data
- Demonstrate strong pedagogy and authentic interest in the academic growth and development of students
- Blended Learning Connections
- Collect/enter student data on academic gains and other outcome targets. Consistent completion of all required documentation: forms, grade checks, assessments, attendance records, etc.
- Organize own work daily, weekly, and monthly to ensure key deadlines are met and are completed on time and according to established policies and procedures.
- Communicate student progress as needed to core-content teachers.

- Help develop school-wide culture that best fits the needs of our students, teachers and families
- Attend and participate in all staff meetings and communicate openly with staff
- Develop positive rapport with students

- Enforce, uphold, and exhibit school’s values, student management policies and culture
- Available for critical school events, including staff meetings, open houses, parent-teacher conferences, and more

- Establish and maintain strong communication lines with all parents and share progress
- Be available for open houses, parent teacher conferences and other events involving parents
- Make him/herself available to students, parents and other staff members
