Mathematics Teacher

Overview

Sylvan of Mineola is looking for dedicated Middle/High School Mathematics teachers to work with our students primarily in grades 7-12. Candidates must have a strong competency in HS Algebra 1, Algebra 2 and Geometry. We are looking for passionate educators who truly want to inspire a love of learning and who work hard to ensure that students are engaged and excited to learn.

• Greet students and initiate instruction to personally engage each student
• Instruct students according to the design of the Sylvan programs
• Manage students, tasks and time to create a balanced and robust instructional session
• Evaluate and record the progress of each student on their assignments
• Use praise and positive reinforcement to ensure students are engaged and inspired to learn
• Communicate specific student needs to Center staff

• Strong competency in HS Algebra 1, Algebra 2 and Geometry
• Experience with helping students prepare for the Math section of the SAT is a bonus (training available for the right candidate)
• Background in any sciences (Biology, Physics or Chemistry) is a plus

• Sylvan is open on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays from 4-7 and on Saturdays from 9-1. We are looking for someone who is able to work at least 2 days a week.
