Why Join CSAS

At the Center for Student Achievement Solutions (CSAS), we believe every child deserves access to high-quality, equitable literacy instruction. Our mission is to close opportunity gaps by delivering job-embedded coaching, structured literacy professional development, and Science of Reading-aligned training that transforms instruction and accelerates student achievement.

We partner with schools and districts nationwide to build educator capacity, strengthen literacy instruction, and support historically underserved students including English Language Learners (ELLs/MLLs), students with IEPs, and struggling readers.

If you are a leader who is passionate about literacy, instructional excellence, and coaching educators toward lasting impact, we want you on our team.

Hours

Lead Literacy Coaches are contracted on a per diem basis, scheduled according to project needs. Coaching and professional development typically occur during school hours with flexibility for planning, debriefs, and collaboration meetings.

Your Role

As a Lead Literacy Coach, you will serve as a senior instructional leader and mentor within the CSAS coaching team. You’ll model best-in-class Science of Reading-aligned instruction, lead capacity-building for teachers and coaches, and collaborate with school leaders to ensure high-quality literacy instruction across grades K–2.

You will guide both teachers and instructional coaches through coaching cycles, data analysis, and professional learning, ensuring that instructional practices are explicit, systematic, and evidence-based.

What You’ll Do
  • Lead job-embedded coaching cycles (co-plan, model, co-teach, debrief) for K–2 teachers implementing core and intervention literacy programs.
  • Mentor and support CSAS literacy coaches to strengthen consistency, coaching impact, and instructional excellence across schools.
  • Model and guide effective implementation of structured literacy programs.
What You Bring
  • Master’s degree in Reading, Literacy, Curriculum and Instruction, or a related field.
  • Minimum5 years of successful K–2 classroom teaching experience with evidence of improved student literacy outcomes.
  • Minimum3 years of experience as a literacy coach, instructional specialist, or teacher leader.
  • Demonstrated expertise in the Science of Reading, structured literacy, and early foundational reading instruction.
  • Proven ability to lead adults, facilitate high-quality professional learning, and provide targeted, actionable coaching feedback.
  • Experience supporting diverse learners, including ELLs/MLLs and students with disabilities.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Expertise with one or more of the following programs: UFLI, Heggerty, Fundations, Orton-Gillingham, Bridge the Gap, Really Great Reading, Phonics for Reading, or HMH Into Reading.
  • Experience leading teams or mentoring instructional coaches.
  • Strong communication, organization, and project management skills.
  • Proficiency with data tools such as Acadience, mCLASS, or similar assessments to inform coaching and instruction.
What We Offer
  • Competitive contract-based pay that reflects your leadership and expertise.
  • Opportunities for advancement within CSAS’s national network of literacy experts.
  • Collaborative and mission-driven culture focused on student success and instructional excellence.
  • Ongoing professional development aligned with cutting-edge literacy research and best practices.
  • The opportunity to make a lasting impact on educators, schools, and K–2 students across the country.
