Psychiatrist 1 / Psychiatrist 2 (NY HELPS) – Rockland Psychiatric Center

Join the New York State Office of Mental Health (OMH) as a Psychiatrist at the Rockland Psychiatric Center. The role is open to candidates with licensure in New York State; applicants from outside or within State Service can apply.

Base pay range: $/yr – $/yr. The actual pay depends on experience and will be discussed with the recruiter.

• Conduct comprehensive psychiatric assessments and patient admissions.
• Create treatment plans, including medication management.
• Obtain and review relevant laboratory tests, consulting with treatment team members as needed.
• Provide individual and group psychotherapy.

• Psychiatrist 1: License and current registration to practice medicine in New York State and completion of a training program in psychiatry approved by the ABPN.
• Psychiatrist 2: License and current registration to practice medicine in New York State and certification in psychiatry approved by the ABPN.
• Limited permit option:
  Licensed in another state or Canada with a current limited permit to practice in New York; must obtain a New York license within one year of appointment.

Eligible after one year of permanent service as Psychiatrist 1, Psychiatrist 2, or Psychiatrist (Children and Youth) for lateral transfer.

• Must not be listed as an excluded individual or entity on federal or state Medicaid/Medicare exclusion lists.
• May need to enroll as a Medicare provider and obtain a National Provider Identifier (NPI) for billing through Medicare and Medicaid.
• Continued employment depends on current licensure and, for Psychiatrist 1/2, certification in child and adolescent psychiatry; loss may result in removal.
