Overview
Rockland Psychiatric Center is recruiting a physician to serve as a Medical Specialist
2. Candidates from outside or within State Service can apply.
- Diagnose, treat, prescribe, and provide specialized medical care and treatment services to individuals with mental illness.
- Conduct physical examinations; order and interpret diagnostic tests; diagnose and treat medical conditions.
- Prescribe medications, therapies, vaccinations, and other specialized medical care, modifying treatment as needed.
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals and disciplines to achieve treatment goals and objectives.
- Maintain medical documentation consistent with agency, State, and federal requirements.
- Participate in discharge planning and collaborate with other providers and disciplines.
Candidates from outside State Service can be considered for hire under the Hiring for Emergency Limited Placement – Statewide (NY HELPS) program if they are licensed to practice medicine in New York State and have certification by Member Board of the American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS) in your specialty.
OR
Candidates from within State Service can be considered for a competitive class appointment if they have one year of permanent competitive or 55-b/55-c service in a title eligible for transfer under Section 70.1 of the Civil Service Law.
Additional CommentsMedical Specialists 2 have an opportunity to earn up to 50% of their salary by volunteering to provide evening, night, and weekend coverage. Regular work week is 40 hours.

Posted salary includes a down state adjustment of $4,000.
