Division Background

The Division of Solid Tumor Oncology in the Department of Medicine at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center invites applications for Chief of the Clinical Genetics Service (CGS). MSK seeks a visionary leader to advance CGS as a national and international model for hereditary cancer risk assessment, precision prevention, and the integration of cutting‑edge science into clinical care. The Clinical Genetics Service (CGS) is a multidisciplinary team of physicians, genetic counselors, and genetic counselor assistants providing comprehensive hereditary cancer risk assessment and management across MSK’s Manhattan and regional locations.

With more than 6,000 outpatient visits annually, CGS is foundational to MSK’s precision prevention and early detection platforms.

Responsibilities
  • Champion high‑impact research and novel clinical approaches that define the future of hereditary cancer risk management and genomics‑driven care.
  • Drive translation of novel scientific advances into direct patient benefit, ensuring MSK remains an epicenter for innovative discovery and implementation.
  • Shape a high‑performing, collaborative team poised to lead, teach, and mentor at the highest level in the era of rapidly evolving genetic and genomic technologies.

Reporting to the Division Head, Solid Tumor Oncology (Luis Diaz, MD), the Chief will have strategic, research, clinical, and operational oversight for all aspects of CGS. This includes defining priorities for clinical excellence, rapid integration of breakthroughs, research portfolio development, talent acquisition, and faculty mentorship. The Chief will lead close collaborations across MSK’s basic, translational, and population science programs, ensuring CGS faculty remain global leaders in advancing precision oncology.

The Ideal Candidate Will
  • Be internationally recognized as an innovator and thought leader in clinical cancer genetics, with a demonstrated commitment to scientific discovery, translational research, and driving the field’s evolution.
  • Have a track record of pioneering and implementing disruptive advances in hereditary cancer syndromes, genomics, or novel precision prevention strategies.
  • Demonstrate sustained mentorship, scholarship, and team leadership in clinical, translational, laboratory‑based, or population‑based science.
