The Designer, Wovens & Swim will assist in weekly functions/tasks or project-based work covering the Woven & Swim design department within calendar milestones. Partner with an extended team such as concept, design leads, PD, merchandising, fabric, technical design, graphic/prints, trim, and production to gather all information needed to create tech packs and follow-ups within the timeline.
Calendar- Assist team to achieve all design calendar deadlines and milestones.
- Input all design details into tech packs and thoroughly check before reviewing with the Design Lead.
- Update changes to design details in tech packs when designs change.
- Assist Design Lead timely execution of tech packs OTB’s.
- Assist in preparation of all design meetings with teams to adhere to calendar dates.
- Assist to perpetrate fitting to review proto or stock fit sample prior to fittings.
- Participate in all weekly WIP meetings and development fittings.
- Troubleshoot & anticipate meeting conflicts & cancellations in order to maintain weekly design milestones.
- Maintain organization and archiving of design workspace, history binder/deck, inspiration samples, and recent pagination wall.
- Execute development and upkeep of seasonal design boards and line paginations. Create seasonal delivery snapshots for seasonal and historical reference.
- Maintain and update all seasonal design binders & board of materials – organize them for easy reference.
- Assist Design Lead in presentation set‑up.
- Transport design presentations to meeting spaces.
- Learn RL aesthetic/principals with an eye for detail and quality execution for proto, sales samples, and production.
- Consistently seek inspiration in fit, fabric, trim, and styling and present to Director and VP of design.
- Under Design Lead supervision, shop domestically for creative inspiration (new and vintage) for the market right seasonal development within budget allocations.
- Assist Design Lead in design presentations and aim for them to be inspirational, clear, and focused with a goal for design approvals.
- Seek innovation through vintage research, market research, online research, and social networking.
- Responsible to return samples & new samples archive to Ralph Lauren library.
- Assist the Design Lead in the execution of sales sample details to ensure the highest quality aesthetic according to Ralph Lauren.
- Under the supervision of the Design Lead, learn RL aesthetic for icons, fabrics, constructions, & style.
- Spearhead trim development within budget allocations.
- Knowledge of graphic/logo / print techniques and ability to create & ownership of art pack to communicate with the oversea team.
- Ownership of Headwear.
- Adhere to standards of communication and teamwork.
- Promote collaboration within cross-functional teams – Technical Design, Fabric, PD, Production, Merchandising Print/Pattern, Graphics, Trim, Concept teams, PR, Copywriters, & other category design teams.
- Build strong partnerships with peers.
- Create CADs for example: 3D and patterns as directed.
- Update PLM with materials and sketch details.
Salary range: $65,000 - $129,225 annually.
Qualifications- Bachelors Degree in Design preferred
- Experience in design outerwear preferred
- Strong communication skills.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Strong sense of time management.
- Must be able to multi-task.
- Must be a team player.
- Illustrator, Photoshop, PLM, Excel, Air Table, Lotta, and Apex.
- Willing to learn new programs like Vibe and Midjourney.
- Works with sense of urgency.
- Affinity and passion for the brand / category.
- Organized, thinking ahead, and positive.
