Overview
An interior design and procurement specialist is sought for a large-scale private family office in Hudson Yards, NYC, starting asap. Working closely with various departments and managing vendors and budgets, the role is responsible for acquisition and placement of design pieces, furnishings and accessories across properties globally. This position, which is brand new, requires a highly discrete, exceptionally organized, proactive, and detail-oriented individual who can anticipate needs and execute to the highest possible standard.
ResponsibilitiesCuration & Acquisition
Define collection and interior vision in accordance with the Principal's taste and lifestyle.
Source design pieces and furnishings/ accessories; conduct due diligence (provenance, condition, authenticity, comps).
Commission custom works and furnishings; manage timelines, approvals, and artist relations.
Prepare concise selection decks and room schemes with layout, finishes, and lighting notes.
Manage database
Interiors Integration
Plan placement, elevations, and installation details; coordinate lighting, framing, mounts, plinths.
Create seasonal refreshes and rotation schedules; style bookshelves, consoles, and tablescapes for everyday living and entertaining.
Ensure durability and conservation-appropriate materials.
Produce approval-ready decks with interior design renderings (Sketch Up/Enscape or Revit) and installation drawings to test sightlines, scale, and lighting for artworks; issue vendor-ready packets (framing, mounts, hardware) and coordinate execution with outsourced designers.
Collection Stewardship
Maintain a rigorous inventory/DAM (images, certificates, appraisals, condition reports).
Oversee insurance, valuations, and loan paperwork; manage storage and environmental standards.
Schedule conservation, reframing, and preventive care; document all movement (chain-of-custody).
Vendor & Project Management
Lead relationships with galleries, auction houses, dealers, artists, framers, conservators, installers, shippers.
Draft scopes and RFPs; negotiate pricing and terms; supervise installs and de-installs across residences.
Plan art fair and studio visit itineraries; prepare briefs and post-visit recommendations.
Budgeting & Reporting
Work closely with the Principal for vision; liaise with the CEO, CFO, Finance team, General Manager and Security.
Own annual budgets for art/interiors, logistics, and conservation; track POs and invoices.
Provide clear summaries on acquisitions, valuation changes, conservation, and upcoming opportunities.
Discretion & Security
Manage and uphold safe handling, transit, and on-site protocols to minimize risk.
Uphold confidentiality and NDAs; align with household security procedures for high-value assets.
QualificationsSkills and Work Habits/
Qualifications:
- 10+ years in advisory/curation and interior styling/design with UHNW private clients and/or private family offices.
- Strong gallery/auction network and market literacy (primary/secondary markets, contracts, comps).
- Portfolio demonstrating integrated art + interiors across high-end residential settings.
- Fluency in framing, lighting for artworks, conservation basics, and fine‑art logistics.
- Proficiency in Adobe CC (InDesign/Photoshop), Sketch Up or AutoCAD; collection database (e.g., Art Base, Catalog It) and Excel/Sheets.
- Exceptional taste, negotiation skills, and vendor management.
- High discretion, service mindset, and ability to travel domestically/internationally.
- Superior verbal and written communication skills.
- Longevity in past positions and excellent references from past employers.
- Utmost discretion and ability to handle sensitive and highly confidential issues with professionalism and diplomacy.
- Demonstrated ability to adapt to changing priorities, maintaining a calm, solution‑oriented approach.

- Possess a valid passport for international travel and able to travel on occasion, sometimes at short notice, both domestically and internationally, without assistance.
- Able to work flexible hours as needed.
- Authorized to work legally in the US and be willing to undergo an in‑depth background investigation.
