Location: New York

Pembrooke and Ives is seeking a Junior Decorator with at least 2-3 years experience to work closely with Intermediate Decorators, Senior Decorators and Studio Directors to provide development, production support and coordination throughout the project delivery process as a member of the design team. A dependable, energetic individual with a “can-do” attitude and exceptional attention to detail, the Junior Decorator is responsible for supporting the efforts of the design team to ensure the successful completion of the project.

Duties & Responsibilities Communication & Coordination
  • Coordinates and communicates effectively and appropriately with project stakeholders including other project team members, clients, vendors, building management, consultants, contractors and sub-contractors to convey project information in a timely and accurate manner.
Projects Drawings, Documentation & Deliverables
  • Prepares, develops and produces project drawings including furniture plans, custom furniture drawings, elevations, lighting plans and custom decorative finish drawings using CAD.
  • Assists in the production of 3D models and renderings.
  • Prepares, develops and produces project documentation including room schemes, room sheets, decorating budgets with high/low options, and decorating schedules with project milestones and decision dates. Updates documentation as required throughout the project life‑cycle.
  • Produces vendor purchase orders accurately and efficiently.
  • Produces client invoices packets accurately and efficiently.
  • Places final orders on behalf of client and expedites long‑lead items to ensure timely delivery.
  • Produces final decorating punch list and specifications book as required.
  • Arranges, coordinates and takes delivery of all decorative items.
  • Inspects decorative items upon delivery and arranges for remediation if required.
  • Oversees the installation of all decorative items.
Meetings & Presentations
  • Attends, participates and contributes in meetings with clients, internal project team, contractors, sub-contractors and vendors by preparing agendas, taking meeting notes and preparing meeting minutes.
  • Assists in the production of client presentations in conjunction with other project team members.
Sourcing, Selection & Specification
  • Sources, selects and specifies furniture, window treatments, drapery, fabrics, wall covering, wall treatments, lighting, carpeting, regular painting, decorative painting, decorative finishes, decorative art (non‑collectable) and accessories as required for the project in accordance with the project budget and schedule.
Skills & Qualifications
  • Possesses a high taste level and has knowledge of high-end market. Follows and speaks to current industry trends on space, function, decorative lighting, fabrics, furniture and equipment, etc.
  • Possesses good time management skills and is able to handle multiple project deadlines and make decisions in a fast‑paced environment to take a project from design concept all the way through installation.
  • Able to make decisions and communicate in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Highly presentable, intelligent, confident and discreet with an outgoing, upbeat and confident demeanor.
  • Goal‑oriented and detail‑oriented with exceptional communication skills (both written and verbal).
  • Proficient in the use AutoCAD, Sketch‑Up, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator and Microsoft Office programs. Studio Designer a plus.
  • Possess foundational knowledge of interior design principles/practices.
  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Interior Design.
  • At least 2 years of demonstrated work experience with Interior Design and/or Architectural Firms.

Salary Range: $65,000.00 - $75,000.00 (depending on experience) + Performance‑Based Bonus
