Assistant Designer

A luxury fashion brand based in New York City is seeking an Assistant Footwear Designer to support the design team from concept through sample execution each season. This is an onsite role ideal for a detail-oriented designer with a strong technical foundation and passion for high-end footwear.

• Support the footwear design team from initial concept through prototype and sample development
• Research market trends, runway references, and archival inspiration to inform seasonal direction
• Create detailed flat sketches and assist with color, material, trim, and branding callouts
• Build and update seasonal design boards and presentation materials for internal reviews
• Maintain accurate style information in internal systems, including naming, descriptions, and sketch updates
• Track and organize prototypes and samples for fittings, styling, and key milestone meetings
• Partner with cross-functional teams to communicate design updates and support on-time development

• BA or with specialization in Footwear Design
• 2 years+ of experience in a footwear design role, preferably within luxury or high-end brands
• Strong detailed flat sketching skills
• In-depth knowledge of shoe construction and material capabilities
• Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and In Design
• Strong time management skills with the ability to handle multiple deadlines
• Excellent communication and presentation abilities
• Enthusiastic, collaborative, and eager to contribute fresh energy to the luxury design process
