Overview
Brooklinen is seeking a Freelance Bed & Bath Designer to support our Design team during a temporary backfill. This role steps in to maintain momentum across active Bed & Bath design work, ensuring continuity, quality, and speed during a critical period.
This is a hands-on, execution-focused role for a designer who’s comfortable jumping into existing workflows, owning their work independently, and partnering closely with a small, highly collaborative team. You’ll report into our SVP of Design and work closely with our Senior Color Designer, contributing directly to ongoing product development and execution.

New York, NY (Hybrid) - This role is based in Manhattan, NY, with a hybrid schedule of two days in-office and three days remote.
- Rate: $50–$55 per hour, based on experience
- Support active Bed & Bath design projects, ensuring timelines and approvals stay on track
- Design and develop flat textile products with a focus on color, texture, and materiality
- Build, update, and maintain accurate, production-ready tech packs
- Manage color approvals, material reviews, and technical design sign-offs
- Maintain clear documentation and progress tracking within PLM systems
- Collaborate closely with Product Development, Merchandising, Sourcing, and Production partners
- Step into existing processes quickly and work independently within a one-team mindset
- Ramp into workflows efficiently and contribute with minimal onboarding time
- 3–5 years of experience in design or creative product development
- Bachelor’s degree in a creative discipline (Design, Fine Arts, or similar)
- Strong experience creating and maintaining tech packs
- Familiarity working within PLM systems
- Elevated taste level with a strong eye for color and texture
- Creative, curious, and detail-oriented
- Comfortable working independently while collaborating closely with a small team
- Able to adapt quickly and keep work moving in a fast-paced environment
- Experience across apparel, accessories, or other creative product categories
- Familiarity with flat textile constructions or soft goods
