Position Summary

Yeshiva University announces its proposed new DDS program and is hiring new faculty and staff to support the school. The curriculum will integrate Digital Dentistry techniques to be taught by today's dental thought leaders and master clinicians. The school plans to provide a unique 36‑month dental education program through an innovative "Block" style curriculum, which will ensure in‑depth learning and understanding.

The Director of Oral Surgery is a faculty leadership role responsible for the academic, clinical, and educational oversight of oral surgery instruction within the dental school. The Director provides subject‑matter expertise in oral surgery and ensures that students receive comprehensive, well‑supervised clinical training that supports competence in surgical assessment, treatment planning, and procedural care.

This role oversees the development, delivery, and continuous evaluation of oral surgery education across didactic and clinical settings, ensuring alignment with accreditation standards, institutional policies, and evidence‑based clinical practice. The Director integrates oral surgery instruction into the broader dental curriculum and collaborates closely with course directors, clinical faculty, and staff to support a cohesive and consistent clinical learning environment.

Reporting to the Director of Clinical Education, the Director of Oral Surgery plays a key role in maintaining high standards of patient safety, clinical documentation, and quality assurance within oral surgery clinics. The position includes direct supervision and mentorship of students and faculty, guidance on clinical protocols and case complexity, and participation in interdisciplinary treatment planning. Through academic leadership, clinical oversight, and faculty collaboration, the Director contributes to the preparation of graduates who are competent, ethical, and practice‑ready in oral surgery fundamentals.

Position

Responsibilities
  • Curriculum Development and Integration:
    Design, implement, and evaluate the oral surgery curriculum, ensuring alignment with accreditation standards and effective integration within the broader predoctoral dental program.
  • Integrated Didactic and Clinical Instruction:
    Provide coordinated didactic and clinical instruction using mastery‑based, evidence‑driven teaching approaches that engage learners and integrate biomedical science principles into patient‑centered oral surgery care.
  • Clinical Supervision and Training:
    Lead and supervise oral surgery clinical education, guiding students and faculty in case selection, treatment planning, surgical procedures, and post‑operative management.
  • Patient Care and Surgical Standards:
    Establish, implement, and monitor protocols for patient safety, surgical quality, and ethical clinical practice within oral surgery services.
  • Clinical and Educational Documentation:
    Ensure complete, accurate, and timely documentation of patient care, learner performance, and instructional activities in accordance with institutional policies, accreditation standards, and applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Faculty and Student Mentorship:
    Mentor and support faculty and students involved in oral surgery education, promoting clinical competency, professional development, and consistency in instruction.
  • Compliance and Accreditation:
    Ensure oral surgery education and clinical activities comply with institutional policies, state and federal regulations, and applicable accreditation requirements.
  • Research and Scholarship:
    Support and promote scholarly activity in oral surgery, contributing to academic advancement and the educational mission of the dental school.
  • Resource and Equipment Management:
    Oversee the appropriate use and maintenance of oral surgery equipment, instruments, and clinical resources to support effective teaching and patient care.

    Collaboration:

    Collaborate with other clinical disciplines to support interdisciplinary education, comprehensive treatment planning, and coordinated patient care.
