Pediatric Dental Hygienist

Job Status: Full Time

Monday-Thursday: 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM

Friday: 9:00 AM - 1:00 PM

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Dental Hygienist to join our dental practice. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in providing high-quality patient care, ensuring a comfortable experience for our patients while promoting oral health. As a Dental Hygienist, you will be responsible for performing dental cleanings, educating patients on oral hygiene practices, and assisting the dental team in delivering exceptional care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist with oral health management of all patients.
  • Verify the identity of patients before administering treatment.
  • Obtain oral health assessment of each patient (new-baseline, follow-up).
  • Review medical history and other pertinent oral health information.
  • Provide oral hygiene services including dental prophylaxis scaling, sealant application, and fluoride application consistent with accepted best practices and standards.
  • Provide dental assistance as directed by the dentist.
  • Provide oral health education and individual counseling to each patient according to known oral health care practices (e.g. tooth brushing, flossing).
  • Document provided dental services on the patient’s chart.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED).
  • Completion of an approved dental hygiene education program.
  • Valid license to practice as a Dental Hygienist in New York State.
  • Good clinical skills: e.g., providing prophylaxis/cleaning, removing plaque/tartar, polishing, patient education, charting, and x-rays.
  • Good interpersonal/communication skills: ability to work with patients, educate them, maintain records, schedule, and collaborate with dentist.
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and experience with calendar management and office software (e.g., Outlook, Google Suite).
  • Maximum attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality in handling sensitive information.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with a multidisciplinary team.
  • Positive, flexible disposition.
