Dental Assistant – Oral Surgery & IV Sedation
Location: New York, NY 10010 Compensation: $28.00 – $32.00 / hour Duration: 3–6 Months + (Conversion potential)
Schedule: Monday – Friday (Full-Time)
We are seeking a highly skilled Surgical Dental Assistant with specialized experience in IV Sedation to join a premier Oral Surgery Department in Manhattan. This is a critical role supporting dental residents and students in a high-volume, academic clinical setting. You will be a key member of the surgical team, ensuring patient safety and clinical excellence during complex oral and maxillofacial procedures.
Key ResponsibilitiesSurgical Assistance: Provide expert four-handed chairside assistance during oral surgical procedures.
Sedation Support: Assist in the administration of IV sedation and provide continuous, vigilant patient monitoring during surgery.
Clinical Prep: Prepare dental castings, dispense medications, and provide post-operative instructions to patients.
Lab & Safety: Perform diagnostic tests and ensure the sterile handling, storage, and disposal of hazardous materials/chemicals.
Mentorship: Support the educational mission by assisting dental students and residents in a clinical capacity.
Experience: 2+ years of dental assisting experience, specifically including 1–2 years of Oral Surgery experience involving IV sedation or general anesthesia.
Education: Graduate of an accredited Dental Assistant Training Program.
Clinical
Skills:
Expert knowledge of four-handed chairside techniques and dental laboratory equipment.Soft Skills: Exceptional interpersonal skills and the ability to maintain a professional demeanor in a fast-paced, sensitive environment.
Compliance: Must be able to pass medical clearance for immediate start.
DANB Certified Dental Assistant (CDA) certification.
ACLS/BLS certification (highly preferred given the sedation focus).
Specialized Environment: Gain experience in a prestigious Oral Surgery department.
