OverviewTake digital intra‑oral and extra oral radiographic imaging (e.g. cone beam computed tomography, and bitewing, periapical, occlusal and panoramic views in analog/film and digital/plate/sensor formats). Review radiographs within guidelines. Process and route imaging related materials. Greet, screen and direct patients. Confirm patient is authorized for a radiographic examination. Provide four‑handed chairside assistance to dental students. Assign patients to dental students, within guidelines.
Monitor collection of instruments; dispense supplies, disposable materials, instrument and equipment. Maintain cleanliness of the work area and quality and safety standards; ensure proper recycling, disposal of infectious materials and adherence to infection control protocols and HIPAA compliance.
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Associate's Degree Dental Hygiene
- 2+ years of related experience.
- Graduate of a Dental Assistant Training Program.
- Certification as a Dental Assistant.
- 2+ years chairside assisting in a private practice
- Knowledge of four‑handed chairside dental techniques and dental lab equipment.
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
- Ability to operate standard office equipment.
- NYSDOH approved CBCT training for dental assistants.
- Valid New York State Radiology Technology license or Dental Hygiene license.
In compliance with NYC's Pay Transparency Act, the hourly rate for this position is USD $36.900. This rate is based on bargaining unit contracts. This pay range represents base pay only and excludes any additional items such as incentives, bonuses, clinical compensation, or other items.
