About the RoleAs a Dental Assistant at Long Island Select Healthcare Inc., you will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of our dental practice. Your primary responsibility will be to assist dentists during procedures, ensuring that patients receive the highest level of care and comfort. You will also be responsible for maintaining a sterile environment, preparing instruments, and managing patient records.
Your compassionate approach will help to alleviate patient anxiety and foster a welcoming atmosphere. Ultimately, your contributions will directly impact patient satisfaction and the overall efficiency of our dental services.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Completion of a dental assisting program or equivalent experience.
- Knowledge of dental terminology and procedures.
- Bilingual skills to assist a diverse patient population.
- Assist dentists during examinations and procedures by providing necessary instruments and materials.
- Prepare and sterilize dental instruments and equipment to maintain infection control standards.
- Manage patient records, including scheduling appointments and updating treatment plans.
- Educate patients on oral hygiene and post-treatment care to promote better dental health.
- Ensure the dental office is organized and well-stocked with necessary supplies.
The required skills of dental assisting, including knowledge of dental terminology and sterilization techniques, are essential for maintaining a safe and efficient practice. Daily, you will utilize your understanding of infection control to ensure that all instruments are properly cleaned and prepared for use. Your ability to communicate compassionately with patients will help to create a positive experience, especially for those who may feel anxious about dental visits.
Proficiency in body motion will aid in assisting the dentist effectively during procedures, ensuring that all necessary tools are within reach. Additionally, familiarity with Dentrix will streamline your administrative tasks, allowing you to focus more on patient care.
This job may require you to travel between clinic sites depending upon scheduling needs.
4-day/week, 10-hour shift. Schedule varies based on Health Center needs.
