Member Experience Representative I (Long Island City YMCA)
Part-Time/Regular
$17.17 - $18.00 Hourly
The YMCA of Greater New York empowers New Yorkers through programs and services at 24 branches. The Long Island City YMCA is seeking a Member Experience Representative to provide a positive experience in person and by telephone to all constituents, building relationships and accurately processing transactions.
Key Responsibilities- Greet and welcome everyone with a smile; offer tours and provide a positive experience in person and over the phone.
- De‑escalate difficult situations using the Y standards and the 4 A’s (Apologize, Ask, Acknowledge, Act).
- Dialogue with members considering cancellation to provide information to the Membership Sales & Engagement Director.
- Work on additional assignments during downtime.
- Arrive promptly for each shift with a positive attitude.
- Wear staff uniform and visible name tag.
- Use professional communication and act as a team player.
- Complete training on customer‑management software within 30 days.
- Take initiative for personal and professional development.
- Scan members into the facility access system; ensure a photo on file for safety.
- Collect contact information of callers to follow up with prospective members.
- Process program registrations and other transactions accurately.
- Reconcile end‑of‑shift reports to ensure accurate cash handling.
- Process guest passes according to policy.
- Pass along any important information to the Membership Sales & Engagement Director.
- High School Diploma or equivalent; college credits preferred.
- One to two years of customer service experience.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office and computer literate.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build rapport quickly.
- Entrepreneurial spirit and willingness to cover additional shifts.
- Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment and handle pressure.
- Excellent communication and problem‑solving skills.
- Flexibility to work a variety of hours, including daytime, evenings, and weekends.
