The Wall Street Journal is seeking a dynamic, energetic audio and video producer to produce daily news podcasts on its What’s News PM team.

WSJ’s What’s News brings you the biggest news of the day, from business and finance to global and political developments that move markets. We break down important news developments with insights and analysis from the reporters who covered the stories, as well as outside guests and news makers. In addition to producing the daily PM edition of What’s News, you’ll work on our weekly What’s News in Markets roundup, our weekly deep-dive What’s News Sunday episodes, What’s News in Earnings episodes tied to earnings season and special projects.

You’ll work with top-tier reporters and industry professionals to break news and explain complex stories for listeners and viewers. We need someone who can not only pitch and produce world-class audio, but as we move into video podcasting also help us redefine what video podcasts can be.

The ideal candidate has a strong background in podcast production, video production, digital storytelling and development. You’re a creative force with excellent editorial judgment and a passion for finding new ways to connect with an audience. You’ll network across our newsroom to be on the cutting edge of what our reporters and editors are working on. You’ll immerse yourself in the news and flex your wide range of production and editorial skills to make our shows essential for our audiences.

This position is based in our New York City office and reports into the Supervising Producer, Audio.

To apply, please submit your résumé, a cover letter clearly outlining how your skills and experience meet or exceed the key candidate requirements, and links to five examples of your work that showcase your expertise in video podcast production. Deadline:
March 31. Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis, and we encourage early submission as the position may be filled before the deadline. Candidates who do not submit cover letters will not be considered.

  • Conduct remote recordings and in-studio interviews and do field work.
  • Contribute to the promotion of the shows by creating promos, sizzle reels and social-media assets including videos.
  • Interview WSJ reporters and sources, coaching those without audio and video experience.
  • Source timely news and archival audio to enrich daily packages and feature segments.
  • Manage multiple projects in various stages of development and production across the What’s News franchise.
  • Ensure that all content is accurate, fact-checked and meets the highest production value and that all WSJ journalistic and legal standards are followed.
