OverviewUSA TODAY Entertainment is looking for a visionary New Media Editor to lead coverage across emerging platforms and digital spaces. This role will focus on You Tube, podcasts, influencers, and other new media channels, developing and growing this beat to connect with audiences where they live online. The ideal candidate is an innovative thinker with strong editing skills, a passion for identifying trends and talent that resonate with our readers, and the ability to effectively grow and manage a team of writers and reporters.
ResponsibilitiesLead New Media Coverage
- Oversee entertainment reporting on platforms such as You Tube, podcasts, and influencer-driven spaces.
- Identify and track trends intersecting with USA TODAY’s audience interests.
- Build a strategy for covering new media personalities and emerging talent.
- Cultivate sources and relationships within influencer and creator communities.
- Ability to build and develop a team of writers and reporters.
- Conceptualize and deliver compelling story ideas that stand out in a crowded digital landscape.
- Collaborate with visual, social, and video teams to create engaging multimedia packages.
- Use analytics and audience insights to inform coverage decisions and growth opportunities.
- Experiment with formats and storytelling approaches to maximize reach and engagement.
- Experiment with AI tools to help support our reporting and goals.
- Proven experience in digital journalism, entertainment reporting, or new media coverage.
- Strong editing skills and ability to shape stories for clarity, impact, and engagement.
- Deep understanding of influencer culture, podcasting, and video platforms.
- Creative thinker with a track record of executing innovative ideas.
- Ability to work collaboratively across teams and adapt quickly to emerging trends.

The annualized base salary for this role will range between $93,000 and $145,313. Base compensation is reflective of many factors, including, but not limited to, the market in which one lives/works, individual education level, skills, certifications and experience.
