Location: New York
JOB TITLE
: FULL TIME, FREELANCE DESIGNER
The Designer is responsible for the design and development of a commercially viable line that fulfills the Chief Creative Officer’s vision, brand strategy, and financial plans. The goal is to create design collections from concept through product, consistent with brand image and target customers.
Responsibilities Design Research and Concept Launch- Contribute to seasonal concept ideation and execution, aligning creative direction with brand vision and market trends
- Stay abreast of competitive landscape; research market, identify opportunities and incorporate relevant market and sales trends into product assortments in a brand‑appropriate manner
- Research and sketch silhouettes, selection of colors, prints, fabrics and trims; finalize color palette and print direction
- Lead the end‑to‑end development for RTW and Josie Natori labels, from initial concept through final approval
- Guide and provide direction to licensees alongside the CCO to uphold our in‑house design vision and brand standards, and to connect their development closely with our internal design direction.
- Adhere to the product development calendar to meet key milestones and deadlines.
- Create initial tech packs for overseas prototype development and oversee purchasing spec TPs for bulk production
- Participate in fit sessions and collaborate with Technical Design to provide feedback
- Partner with CAD/Graphics team to develop print and embellishment layouts according to specifications
- Coordinate with the Product Development team on lab dips, strike‑offs, and color approvals
- Liaise with Product Development, Sales, and Merchandising teams to ensure alignment on product direction and business needs
- Additional responsibilities as required
- Minimum of 5+ years of experience in the industry;
Must have women's wear experience. - BFA, BS in Fashion Design or equivalent
- Strong knowledge of Illustrator and Photoshop Program;
Kaledo is a plus - Basic computer skills and knowledge in Microsoft Office, Excel, Word and Power Point
- Excellent hand/digital sketching and illustration ability
- Strong technical knowledge of garment construction and fit
- Ability to communicate clearly using fabric/merchandising/garment construction terminology and skills both written and verbal
- Great eye for color; understands possibilities of fabric and construction; looks for new and innovative ways to use color, fabric, and details in design
- Applies design concepts through lens of the customer and brand filter
- Flexible and able to accept and embrace departmental/organizational changes with positive attitude
- Organized and detailed orientated;
Problem‑solver, solutions orientated - Must be able to multi‑task, prioritize work on a continual basis, able to lead and work independently
- Excellent written and oral communications skills
- Able to build relationships effectively with cross‑functional teams
- Salary: $85,000.00 to $95,000.00 based on experience
