Our client, a leading organization in the news and media industry, is seeking an experienced News
Editor to help lead breaking news coverage in a fast-paced newsroom environment. This role requires a strong editorial leader who thrives in high-pressure situations, can guide a team of reporters, and has the judgment to balance immediate breaking news with deeper enterprise reporting. The ideal candidate brings experience across both digital and print platforms and is comfortable making quick decisions while maintaining high editorial standards.
- Lead and oversee breaking news coverage, ensuring stories are timely, accurate, and compelling.
- Manage and mentor a team of reporters, helping develop talent and strengthen newsroom performance.
- Edit and shape stories across both digital and print platforms.
- Identify opportunities to expand breaking news into deeper enterprise stories.
- Coordinate coverage with reporters and other editors to prioritize key stories throughout the day.
- Maintain strong editorial judgment in a fast-moving news cycle while ensuring quality and accuracy.
- Contribute to building a collaborative and high-performing newsroom culture.
- Significant experience working in, and leading a team within, a fast‑paced newsroom environment.
- Proven ability to lead breaking news coverage while also guiding enterprise and investigative reporting.
- Experience managing or mentoring reporters and developing editorial talent.
Strong editing and storytelling skills across both digital and print formats. - Excellent news judgment and the ability to make quick decisions under tight deadlines.
- Strong organizational and leadership skills.
This role is on-site five days per week in New York City and will include a weekend shift, likely Saturday
, as part of the regular schedule.
