We are working on a menswear design role with a focus on wovens and tailored product. The role is based in our midtown office and is full time. We need immediate support, but the role could possibly be temp to perm. If you are more senior, you may be open to getting your foot into the door at a top company and gaining work experience in the interim.
The Designer – Wovens will assist in designing and executing product on a global creative season direction and meet business needs under the guidance of the Design Director, Wovens/Tailoring. The candidate will develop and produce woven/tailoring as per our product strategy for multiple businesses from concept through to bulk. Focus will be on menswear.
- $82,500 - $100,000 per year – hourly rate approximately 40-47, based on experience.
- Work with Design Director and design team to research and develop concepts, colors, fabrics, and silhouette designs based on the global creative direction.
- Proactively research and identify trends and techniques that align with the brand aesthetic.
- Create a global woven/tailoring collection each season focusing on updates to commercial core and essentials.
- Incorporate woven/tailoring trends, novelty, and innovation into cohesive collections together with Design Leadership.
- Exhibit flexibility to accommodate emerging opportunities in the business and areas of acceleration in the calendar.
- Prepare all sketches for divisional digital presentations and focus on the follow‑up of each style.
- Develop product with consideration of seasonal needs and different price levels.
- Create PLM tech packs including design detail pages and BOM trim components; work with tech partners for block development.
- Assemble and maintain presentation boards for meetings, including Miro and CADs for Merchandising Visulon tools.
- Organize and maintain design development including artwork, trims, fabric swatches, and prototypes.
- Manage and adhere to a Time‑in‑Action Calendar.
- Ability to work across multiple apparel seasons.
- Create strong cross‑functional and vendor relationships.
- Work closely and communicate daily on challenges and changes that arise during the development of styles; partner with the product POD team (supply, merch, RM, and design).
- Participate in fittings by working closely with Tech, based on block systems and new seasonal complex styles; ensure all styles are to the highest possible standard, including all details, trims, and construction.
- 5+ years design experience in menswear wovens and tailoring.
- High level fabric knowledge of wovens/tailoring and strong technical understanding of fit and construction.
- Ability to multi‑task, think outside the box, be open‑minded and optimistic.
- Strong understanding of product is a must.
- Excellent time management, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Strong eye for trends and current industry news/development.
- Proficiency in Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator.
- Experience in Centric PLM is a plus.
- Highly organized and detail‑oriented.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks/projects with adherence to deadlines.
- Must be flexible to adapt to changing trends of business and corporate strategy.
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in Fashion Design.
