Job Summary

The Associate Social Media Editor executes social media strategy, content creation, and audience development across multiple social platforms. This role requires expertise in platform functionality, trends, and user behavior, including Instagram, Tik Tok, Facebook, Threads, and emerging platforms. The Associate Social Media Editor collaborates closely with the Social Media Director and cross-functional teams including video, editorial, art & photo, and sales to support content production workflows.

The role also involves supporting major industry events such as awards shows, red carpets, fashion week, panels, and other tentpole moments as needed. This position requires strong analytical skills, the ability to translate data into actionable insights, and comfort with drafting copy and appearing on-camera for short-form content and interviews. This is a hybrid role with remote flexibility.

Key Responsibilities
  • Pitch, write, shoot, schedule, and execute social media content across platforms
  • Monitor platform trends and conduct strategic research to inform content decisions
  • Analyze performance metrics and provide clear, actionable insights
  • Manage and maintain social calendars and administrative workflows
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support integrated content initiatives
  • Support live coverage and event-related social content as needed
Qualifications

Education: Bachelor's degree in Journalism, Communications, or related field, or equivalent work experience.

Experience: 1–2 years of digital and/or social media experience, preferably within a news organization or content studio.

Skills & Abilities:

  • Proficiency in Adobe Photoshop and video editing
  • Experience with Google Slides, Docs, and related tools
  • Familiarity with analytics and social scheduling platforms
  • Strong writing, communication, and organizational skills
  • Ability to interpret performance data and apply insights effectively
  • Comfortable appearing on-camera for short-form and interview content
