OVERVIEW

We’re hiring a Deputy Director of Organic Media to own our organic presence end-to-end, lead a team who supports and executes those efforts, and translate our broader communications strategy into daily, high-impact content that actually cuts through. Majority Democrats operates like a media company, not a traditional political committee. We move fast, we punch when needed, and we care about culture as much as politics.

If you are deeply online, a strong writer with sharp journalistic instincts, politically fluent, and decisive under pressure, you’ll thrive here. You will be responsible for making Majority Democrats one of the most recognizable, trusted, and engaging political brands on the internet, and for building the systems that allow our content to travel.

We are hiring for both a Deputy Director of Organic Media and a Director of Organic Media and encourage candidates at multiple experience levels to apply. For the right person, we’re committed to investing in your growth. We hold a high bar for our work and are looking for someone who’s excited to meet it.

WHO ARE YOU:
  • You are a Democrat
  • You love winning
  • You are a decent person with integrity
  • You are not easily offended or bothered by every slight or misspoken word
  • You dislike groupthink and following the herd. You have original opinions, insights, and a style that doesn’t prioritize conformity
  • You thrive in a campaign-style or startup-style environment- owning your work, pivoting on the fly, and not needing direction on every detail
WHAT YOU'LL DO:
  • Run the day-to-day social operation – edit and approve content in real time; give clear direction on what ships and what doesn’t
  • Own news-of-the-day coverage in partnership with Comms, turning moments into fast, high-impact social content
  • Identify opportunities for viral or high-engagement moments even on “slow” days (what are those under this administration?)
  • Ensure we show up in the conversation when it matters and are never late to a moment
  • Maximize the content we already have (events, speeches, interviews, media hits) and get it onto feeds quickly
  • Activate and grow our community (“the Cavalry”) by identifying repeat voices in our comments and replies and moving key content to supporters, politicos, volunteers, and creators for amplification
  • Lead social listening and performance insights: manage a team delivering weekly readouts on what’s resonating, what tweeters are saying, what attacks are landing, and what formats are working
  • Develop and execute social-first video formats in partnership with the creative team
  • Work with talent, candidates, and creators to produce authentic, platform-native content

This is not a junior role. You will be a senior leader on the team, managing staff operating at a rapid-response standard. We are looking for someone with strong journalistic instincts, someone who can see a moment coming, move quickly, and capitalize on it before anyone else.

WHO YOU ARE
  • 5+ years running social media for a campaign, media brand, newsroom, or digital-first organization
  • Strong political instincts
  • Thorough awareness of national news and ability to relentlessly monitor news cycles for content opportunities
  • Deep fluency in internet culture, memes, and platform behavior
  • Experience managing rapid response and high-volume publishing environments
  • Excellent writer who can shift between sharp/pugnacious, funny, empathetic, authoritative
  • Highly organized and systems-oriented — can build processes that scale
WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE (FIRST 3-6 MONTHS)
  • Majority Democrats becomes a daily habit follow for politically engaged audiences
  • Our content regularly breaks out of the political bubble
  • We consistently win the moment in rapid-response environments
  • Campaign partners view us as an essential distribution and narrative partner
  • We build a visible, active online community (“the Cavalry”) that shows up in comment sections and across platforms
WHAT WE OFFER
  • Competitive salary, $96K-$192K per year DOE
  • Creative and collaborative work environment
