Overview

The New York Post video team is seeking a Producer (Temp-to-Perm) to helm a daily live sports show national in scope.
This producer will be a key role responsible for show format, creative evolution and getting best out of our on-air talent.
This role requires experience working at a daily sports show: booking, planning, scriptwriting, coaching on-air talent and a willingness to be a player-coach creative process must be supplemented by smartness in all aspects of the digital production process including leading the effort to create thumbnails, snappy heads and manage interactive promotion. Candidates must be savvy and knowledgeable about creating content for the key social platforms to help drive in tune-in and succeed with VOD clips.
This job requires a candidate who is both self-sufficient, can juggle a lot of simultaneous responsibilities and has a track record of ensuring smooth production processes. The candidate we seek has a deep knowledge and interest in all types of sports: established major leagues, upstart sports, gambling, esports and fantasy.
- Own daily production of a national live sports show, from rundown creation and booking to live execution and post-show clips
- Shape the show’s format and creative voice while coaching on-air talent to deliver sharp, engaging segments
- Collaborate with reporters, editors, and social teams to turn breaking sports news into compelling live and VOD content
- Oversee live and post-production workflows to ensure smooth broadcasts and fast turnarounds
- Drive audience growth through smart thumbnails, headlines, metadata, and platform-specific promotion
- Track performance and engagement metrics to refine programming and grow reach across platforms
- 7-10 years of experience working in a fast paced online news environment
- Encyclopedic NYC sports knowledge including upstart sports, fantasy, and esports
- Ability to pitch, produce, and script
- Ability to polish on camera talent
- Ability to work closely with internal stakeholders and reporters
- Excellent communication and people skills
- Experience creating video for social platforms like You Tube, Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat, X and more a plus
- Strong news judgment, track record of successful video production
- Implement best practices for video metadata, thumbnails, and discovery on all videos
- Fluency with key tools in Adobe Creative Suite (Premiere, Photoshop, After Effects) also a plus
- Familiarity with the New York Post and our writing style
- Use web analytics to monitor audience engagement with our videos and strategize for growth on various platforms
- Excited about new types of multimedia storytelling
- Must enjoy working collaboratively and accurately in a fast paced but fun environment
- Strong news judgment and attention to detail and journalistic values a must
NOTE:
This is an in-office 5 day a week job from with occasional weekend and evening work. This role is currently aligned to a daily sports show, with opportunities to evolve as programming and business needs change.
This role will start as a temporary position with the intent to convert to a full-time, regular role based on performance and business needs. Benefits eligibility begins upon conversion to full-time employment.

Pay Range: $45/hr - $60/hr
