OverviewThe Assistant Technical Designer is responsible for assisting in the technical design product lifecycle from pre-fitting through production fit approval. As a member of the Technical Design team, this role assists before, during and after fittings with live fit models to assess garments and advise fit corrections to overseas teams and factories. The Assistant also works with the Technical Designer to create comprehensive initial technical packages, as well as final full graded specs.
KeyAccountabilities
- Assists with product life cycle from pre-fitting through production fit approval.
- Assists before, during and after fittings with live fit models – measures, takes fitting notes, edits comments and fit corrections, and communicates with overseas teams and factories.
- Works with the Technical Designer to create comprehensive initial technical packages as well as final full graded spec.
- Works under Technical Designer’s guidance for necessary corrections; diagrams and utilizes garment patterns effectively to achieve desired fit, silhouette and style.
- Facilitates communication with overseas offices and vendors to identify and resolve issues with garment construction and production.
- Meets with Production Team weekly to review sample approval status and ensure Time and Action Calendar compliance.
- Interacts daily with agents, overseas offices and vendors to problem-solve all issues related to garment engineering throughout the product lifecycle.
- 0-2 years of Technical Design and/or Pattern making experience on a live fit model in a SKU intensive environment, required
- College degree, or equivalent professional work experience, required
- Technical skills:
Proficiency using Gerber Yunique PLM or equivalent, WebPDM, Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, PowerPoint, MS Excel, required - Strong project management and multi-tasking skills with critical attention to detail
- Confident, engaging verbal and written communication skills
- Motivated to work in a high energy environment at the speed of fashion with ever-changing priorities
- Ability to build and maintain relationships with other departments as well as vendors and other overseas offices
The pay range for this position is: $26.44 per hour/$55,000 per year (Annualized salary is based on a 40 hour work week) - $28.85 per hour/$60,000 per year (Annualized salary is based on a 40 hour work week)
