POSITION SUMMARYThe Technical Designer is a key contributor to the product lifecycle, responsible for ensuring garments meet design intent, brand standards, and customer fit expectations through all stages of production. This role is highly collaborative, interfacing with design, sales, production, and overseas factories to deliver precise technical packages and maintain the integrity of Bagatelle’s quality and aesthetic standards.
KEY EXPECTATIONS- Demonstrate ownership of the production cycle from initial fit through TOP.
- Serve as a technical authority on fit, specs, construction, and grading.
- Lead fit sessions and clearly communicate corrections to overseas vendors.
- Be proactive, solution-oriented, and deadline-driven in a fast-paced environment.
- Ensure adherence to brand and customer-specific technical standards.
- Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and uphold clear, professional communication.
- Ensure execution of design and fit intent into production while maintaining quality and brand aesthetics.
- Evaluate samples throughout development and production (Fit, PP, TOP) for specs, balance, workmanship, and construction.
- Prepare garments for fittings and lead fit sessions (in-house and with customers).
- Communicate precise fit comments, pattern corrections, and visual references to overseas factories.
- Create and manage tech packs, including detailed construction comments, graded specs, and updates.
- Maintain sample tracking systems and prioritize workload based on delivery timelines.
- Ensure deadlines are met within the production T&A calendar.
- Work closely with Design, Sales, and Production to align fit, quality, and cost objectives.
- Support Technical Director on new development programs and construction improvements.
- Participate in hand-offs and attend weekly production meetings.
- Minimum 2 years of technical design experience, preferably in a fast-paced production environments.
- Bachelor’s degree in Technical Design or related field required.
- Strong understanding of garment construction, grading, and fabric performance.
- Proficient in Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Exceptional communication skills (verbal, written, and visual).
- Detail-oriented with strong time management and organizational skills.
- Able to multi-task, prioritize effectively, and operate with a strong sense of urgency.
