Position Summary
Markarian is seeking a highly talented Technical Design & Product Development Associate to support the full lifecycle of our product across ready-to-wear, bridal, and accessories. This role is integral to ensuring the smooth execution of seasonal collections and requires strong organizational skills, meticulous attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple workflows in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities- Overseeing all technical design, product development and production
- Creating and updating flat sketches and techpacks in Illustrator and Excel
- Communicating and managing orders with mills and suppliers to ensure timely delivery of fabrics and trims
- Track fabric and trim allocations, consumption, and reconcile discrepancies
- Communicating daily with domestic and overseas factories, pattern makers, and suppliers to ensure timely deliveries and quality product
- Creating and updating calendars and spreadsheets that track all essential information for all styles
- Calculate costs for sample development and production (managing budget allocations, reconciling invoices, ensuring alignment with purchase orders, etc.)
- Quality control of all merchandise
- Maintain organized and detailed records, files, and sample archives
- 3+ years of technical design experience (RTW and/or bridal strongly preferred)
- A bachelor's degree from a United States apparel design program
- A firm understanding of garment construction, specs, and tech packs
- Extremely organized, self-motivated and able to multi-task
- Both domestic and overseas production experience a big plus
- Experience with costing
- Experience with quality control
- Highly proficient in Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign, Microsoft Excel, and Google Sheets
- Experience with PLM and/or ERP systems (RLM, Apparel Magic, Blue Cherry) a plus
- Comfortable working in a small, hands‑on team environment
- Strong written and verbal communication skills; confidence in communicating with vendors and factories
- Ability to lift and move garment bags, fabric rolls, and boxes as needed
- Authorization to work in the U.S.
- Experience with luxury brands a plus
