Position Description

Adrianna Papell Group is seeking an experienced Fashion Designer to join its branded Sportswear Design Team. Under the direction of the Design Director, the Designer is responsible for driving design direction from concept through production, delivering trend-right collections that align with brand aesthetic and business objectives. This Designer role combines creativity, trend awareness, and technical expertise to develop innovative designs of elevated sportswear pieces, including the following categories: knits, wovens, sweaters, pants, jackets, and dresses.

The ideal candidate is creatively strong and commercially minded, with a proven ability to design compelling and modern sportswear for private label and off-price retail partners.

Responsibilities
  • Responsible for the entire product design process with Design Director to include market research, inspiration boards, designing, sketching, tech pack and fit.
  • Design and develop seasonal women's sportwear across all classifications; sweater, cut and sew, woven, bottom, jacket, and dress.
  • Execute all tech packs and design details and communicate with overseas multiple factories.
  • Provides recommendations regarding seasonal themes, edits to line, new concepts, etc.
  • Research and interpret trends in styling, color, fabrics and findings for a seasonal trend presentation.
  • Ensures that product is consistent with market trends as well as business strategy
  • Responsible for fabric, trim and embroidery selection.
  • Works collaboratively with production, technical design, and sales teams to bring vision to commercially viable product decisions including lab dips, strike offs and handloom approvals.
  • Review and approve trim, L/D, quality and bulk fabrics for production with overseas factories directly.
  • Organize and keep track of all documentation and materials generated by the Design/Development process.
Qualifications
  • 5+ years design experience in women’s wear.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Fashion Design.
  • Strong computer knowledge including illustrator and Photoshop, and PLM.
  • Ability to design around concepts with a strong sense of style and color.
  • Thorough knowledge of silhouettes, fabrication, colorways, textiles, sewing techniques, graphics, embroidery and trim.
  • Strong organizational, time management, communication and presentation skills.
  • Pattern making/garment construction knowledge and experience.
  • Understanding of garment costing, sourcing and production.
  • Ability to train and develop junior members of Design Team.

Starting Salary Range: $80,000 based on applicant's experience.
