Success Profile

G-III Apparel Group is seeking a creative, detail-oriented Assistant Designer to join the DKNY Jeans Cut & Sew team. This role supports the design process from concept through production execution, partnering closely with the Design Director and cross-functional teams. The ideal candidate is highly organized, trend-aware, and passionate about denim-adjacent cut & sew categories, with strong technical and communication skills to support fast-paced seasonal development.

Key

Accountabilities Design & Seasonal Development
  • Support the seasonal development calendar in partnership with the Director of Design and design team.
  • Assist with sketching, line development, and creation of detailed tech packs.
  • Source seasonal inspiration through market research, trend reports, retail analysis, and online resources.
  • Participate in all phases of the design process from concept to final product approval.
  • Assist in the research and development of new fabrics, washes, and innovative trims specific to Cut & Sew categories.
Line Presentation & Organization
  • Create, maintain, and update seasonal line sheets.
  • Organize and manage trim packages, color allocation charts, and seasonal trim boards.
  • Prepare show samples for line reviews and edits (steaming, tagging, organizing).
  • Maintain development binders, fabric libraries, and seasonal reference materials.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
  • Communicate directly with overseas factories regarding development and approvals.
  • Submit and track approvals for artwork, strike-offs, wash panels, lab dips, and sample submissions.
  • Partner with Production and Technical Design teams to ensure garment integrity from development through production.
  • Actively participate in weekly Design Flow Meetings, documenting action items and following up on outstanding deliverables.
Operational Support
  • Manage and adhere to Time and Action Calendars to support on-time delivery.
  • Maintain organization of supply closets, fabric bins, and seasonal archives.
  • Assist with preparation of archived samples and materials for internal reviews and sample sales.
  • Prepare expense reports following travel, market research, and development activities.
Education & Experience
  • Minimum of 1 year of professional apparel design experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Fashion Design or related field preferred (or equivalent professional experience).
Skills & Behaviors
  • Strong understanding of apparel construction, garment components, and Cut & Sew product categories.
  • Experience working within apparel development calendars and seasonal timelines.
  • Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and Microsoft Excel.
  • Working knowledge of PLM systems preferred.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and adaptable in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
  • Passionate about fashion, trends, and brand-driven design execution.
Pay Range

$24.04 per hour – $29.00 per hour
