Sr. Manager, Technical Events Production role is the senior most position on the east coast, autonomously leading all technology and production for our New York offices and events. This position will lead and oversee all events in this geography and will be responsible for both technical and production leadership as well as people and talent leadership. In this role, the person is responsible for planning and executing all technical aspects of events;
from initial consultation with executive level Disney clients and stakeholders, to preparation, to load in, rehearsals, execution, strike, and put away. They must have an expert working knowledge of event gear, equipment and technology, including coding it for events, for both theater venues as well as multi-use spaces. Events may include small single tech lead projects where this position is very hands-on responsible for everything, to significantly larger events where this position leads many other techs, including internal cross-functional teams as well as lead and direct vendor/agency stage crews and temps.
This position needs to be a technical production expert with seasoned experience in live event video production and switching and corporate event production and presentations. Responsibilities will be inclusive of inventory assessment and management, video and audio setup, lighting, staging and rigging as well as stage management and directing, and overall show calling for theater and large venue events that are indoor and outdoor.
Additionally, this position will be responsible for presentation content curation and run of show design and work with event teams and leaders. This role is a seasoned event technical producer, can work autonomously and with little to no direction, is highly self-motivated and can problem-solve and put out fires as they arrive with minimal escalation as the primary POC on the east coast.
Lead event production and technology for all east coast-based events where the DCCR team is contracted and is the primary point of contact on location and for escalations for both internal and external stakeholders related to events.
Oversee and lead all NYC-based event production, including planning, designing, managing and executing successful events of small to large-scale, inside live theater, office settings and meeting rooms, conference settings and auditoriums as well as outdoor venues and locations as well as virtually.
Advise event managers and consult with clients on best practices, event technology capabilities, specifications, costs, create and maintain budgets, and usage of technical equipment required for events at various locations. Liaison with presenters to gather and troubleshoot presentations, determine playback support, generate AV content for presentations, and fix/provide solutions live on-site in real-time. Provide input for economical, safety, and general efficiencies for events.
Operate and oversee all audiovisual elements (audio, video, playback, presentation graphics, lighting, staging) for corporate special events, conferences, virtual events, for clients across the enterprise. Manage and operate audio, video, lighting, and control systems in the Theatre and Great Room daily, including special events and live productions.
Recruit, hire, and manage internal talent as team grows, as well as source, hire, and manage local labor support for large- and small-scale events onsite at Disney locations during load-in, setup, event run of show and lout-out as needed.
Determine and hire local labor support as needed to execute events and direct local technical crews on site during load-in, event, and load-out as needed.
Prepare and be accountable for audiovisual and production budgets that support live events and other projects and report back to Department Head and finance.
7+ years of technical event production, leaning on the more experienced end
Minimum of 3-4 years in the corporate production environment
Technical direction and production management background with leading production crews
Virtual Meeting & webcasting production
highly self-motivated with exceptional organization skills
Calm and confident under pressure and flexible and adaptable in an ever-changing environment
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Explicit technical knowledge of virtual meeting and webcasting, stage operations, lighting, audio, and video systems used at events
Solid knowledge of technical design
Extensive experience with Blackmagic ATEM system, Barco E2, PTZ video camera control systems, and streaming encoding, program and ISO recordings.
Ability to cross-train, develop, and convey vision to team members, with energy and encouragement. Understanding and translating customer and client goals and information into production concepts.
