Overview
This is a full-time on-site role for a Documentary Editor based in New York, NY. The Documentary Editor will be responsible for editing raw footage into cohesive, engaging documentary films. Daily tasks include reviewing and organizing footage, collaborating with directors and producers, adjusting pacing and flow, color grading, and ensuring high-quality final outputs. They will manage post-production timelines, incorporate music and sound design, and make edits that align with the vision of the project while adhering to deadlines.
Qualifications- Proficiency in video editing software such as Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, or similar tools
- Strong skills in storytelling, pacing, and creating engaging narratives
- Experience with color grading, sound editing, and integrating visuals with music
- Collaborative mindset, with excellent communication and problem-solving abilities
- Organizational skills to handle multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines
- Prior experience editing documentaries or long-form video content is highly valuable
- A degree in Film Production, Media Studies, or a related field is preferred
