Description

Chronicle Books is searching for an Editorial Assistant to support the administrative and editorial needs of the Children’s Editorial department and Princeton Architectural Press Editorial department.

Key Responsibilities
  • Guiding and anticipating next steps for Editors by project deadlines and creating task lists.
  • Drafting frontmatter, copyediting/fact checking, and working on marketing copy, top sheets, tipsheets, and PowerPoint presentations.
  • Conducting research, maintaining title information, attending Status, Editorial, and Pub Group meetings, and reviewing manuscripts and galleys.
  • Submitting projects for feedback, drafting letters, and communicating sub‑rights deals.
  • Responding to book projects under consideration, assisting with word‑processing, and managing advance copy mailings.
  • Maintaining address databases, reviewing unsolicited manuscripts, and organizing and preparing editorial materials for internal presentations.
Hiring Salary Range

$24.52/hr – $28.25/hr this range represents the anticipated low and high end of the expected salary for this position and will be determined by factors including, but not limited to, an applicant’s education, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities, and geographic location as well as internal equity and alignment with market data. This position is eligible for our profit share plan.

Schedule

  • Proven editorial experience with keen writing abilities, copyediting skills, proofreading skills, and an eye for detail.
  • Competency in Excel, Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and email.
  • Strong organizational, administrative, and time‑management skills.
