Chautauqua Theater Company (CTC), the resident theater company of the Chautauqua Institution, offers world-class live theater during the Institution’s nine-week Summer Assembly. CTC is committed to creating a national platform for the development of new works and fostering the next generation of theater artists. CTC produces a dynamic mix of classical, contemporary, and new plays featuring distinguished professionals and accomplished emerging artists.

CTC is devoted to nurturing bold voices and advancing the future of American theater.

CTC’s 2026 summer positions are temporary, on‑site roles based at Chautauqua Institution in Chautauqua, NY. These roles involve contributing to the successful execution of the summer theater season. Responsibilities will vary depending on the role but may include collaborating with creative teams, assisting in the production and technical aspects of performances, advancing new work initiatives, and supporting the overall operations within the theater company.

These positions are ideal for individuals passionate about theater and eager to gain professional experience in a vibrant artistic environment.

Qualifications
  • Strong skills in theatrical production areas such as acting, directing, design, technical theater, or stage management.
  • Experience in project management, event coordination, or supporting performing arts organizations.
  • Excellent teamwork and communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively in a fast‑paced and creative environment.
  • Passion for theater and a commitment to advancing the development of new plays and diverse voices.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to contribute effectively to a variety of tasks and responsibilities.
  • Bachelor’s degree or current student in the performing arts or a related field is preferred.
  • Previous theater experience and understanding of production workflows is a must.
