Principal, Art Director – Snap Inc.

As a member of the Creative team, you will be instrumental in building the Snapchat brand and crafting best‑in‑class marketing materials for a wide range of audiences that help celebrate our latest products, features and company developments.

What you’ll do
  • Art direct ideas across all mediums – from brand campaign, branded experience, new product launches, features and company developments to the world.
  • Own and be responsible for the elevation of the art direction and visual craft across projects.
  • Collaborate closely with the Design Director to maintain coherent and consistent visual language and expressions across all channels.
  • Lead the development and execution of high priority projects from concept through production and delivery.
  • Collaborate with and lead a diverse mix of internal and external partners to create best‑in‑class advertising and marketing campaigns across a wide range of verticals, disciplines and markets.
  • Proactively navigate a complicated cross‑functional marketing organization.
  • Stay up‑to‑date on the competitive landscape, the latest visual trends and new technologies to keep Snap’s work innovative and relevant.
  • Help to grow, develop and define the team’s design culture.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Ability to get hands on with projects while leading a diverse creative team efficiently and effectively towards a common objective.
  • Ability to think conceptually and transition creative ideas into well‑art directed work.
  • Ability to influence and work cross‑functionally with various different partners.
  • Demonstrate a high level understanding of the business problem to solve while partnering with marketing and strategy stakeholders.
  • Present and sell through the team’s creative work in compelling and effective ways to a large cross‑functional team and executive stakeholders.
  • Manage ambiguity in a fast‑paced environment and have the ability to make quick, high‑quality decisions based on evolving project needs and creative goals. Think “create, publish, learn” mindset.
  • Work in a clear and thoughtful manner and be able to articulate the strategic thinking behind your creative process.
  • Have a deep understanding of advertising and marketing processes.
  • Thrive in a collaborative environment, but can also work autonomously with strong time management skills.
  • Highly curious and interested in exploring and discovering new creative formats that help drive business impact.
  • Manage and nurture collaborative working relationships with cross‑functional stakeholders across varying verticals, disciplines and markets.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in graphic design, motion design, filmmaking or equivalent experience.
  • 12+ years of experience working as an art director in advertising agencies – preferably a mix of in‑house, external agency or freelance.
  • Strong portfolio showcasing a diverse range of successful campaigns and innovative, high‑impact projects.
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud, Figma, and other industry standard design tools.
  • Experience in B2B and growth marketing in tech and social media.
  • Experience working in matrixed organizations.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Proficiency in Generative AI.
  • Proficient working with Keynote and Figma.
  • Specific expertise in After Effects, Illustrator, and Photoshop.
  • Experience working in a Google Docs lead project environment.
  • Frame.io knowledge.
Compensation

In the United States, work locations are assigned a pay zone which determines the salary range for the position. The successful candidate’s starting pay will be determined based on job‑related skills, experience, qualifications, work location, and market conditions. These pay zones may be modified in the future.

  • Zone A (CA, WA, NYC): $229,000–$343,000 annually.
  • Zone B: $218,000–$326,000 annually.
  • Zone C: $195,000–$292,000 annually.

This position is eligible for equity in the form of RSUs.
