This is a full-time, on-site role for a Construction Estimator based in New York, NY. The Construction Estimator will be responsible for preparing detailed cost estimates for projects, performing quantity take-offs, and managing budgets. Additional responsibilities include analyzing project costs, coordinating with contractors, and ensuring cost control throughout the project lifecycle. Effective collaboration with project teams and stakeholders is essential to ensure project success within the established timelines and budgets.
Key Responsibilities- Review architectural drawings, engineering plans, and specifications to understand project requirements.
- Prepare detailed cost estimates including labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractor pricing.
- Solicit and evaluate bids from subcontractors and suppliers.
- Perform quantity takeoffs and maintain accurate cost databases.
- Analyze project risks and develop cost strategies to maintain competitive bids.
- Collaborate with project managers and field teams during pre-construction planning.
- Prepare bid proposals, scope clarifications, and supporting documentation.
- Participate in project handoff meetings once a project is awarded.
- Monitor market pricing trends for materials and labor.
- Assist in value engineering opportunities to optimize project costs while maintaining quality.
- Strong skills in Construction Estimating and Quantity Take-offs
- Proficient in Cost Management and Budgeting
- Excellent Communication skills for collaboration with internal teams and external stakeholders
- Knowledge of local building codes and regulations.
- Familiarity with industry-standard estimating software and tools is a plus
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field preferred
- Previous experience in residential and/or commercial construction estimation is advantageous
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills with attention to detail
