A well-established and highly respected New York City General Contractor is seeking a Construction Estimator to join its growing team. This opportunity is ideal for a mid‑level estimator with approximately 4–8 years of experience who has worked on high‑rise residential reconstruction, renovation, or complex interior projects and is looking to take the next step in their career. This is an in‑office position that works closely with company leadership, including the CEO
, and plays a key role in developing projects from early conceptual budgeting through full estimating and project turnover
. The role offers strong exposure to preconstruction strategy and the opportunity to contribute directly to winning and delivering complex projects.
The company competes on a wide range of high‑end residential renovations
, including apartments and townhouses
, along with major hospitality and commercial interior work in hotels, restaurants, and occupied environments
. Projects typically range from $500K to $5M
, requiring estimators who can manage detailed takeoffs, tight schedules, and the logistical challenges of working within existing buildings.
- Prepare detailed quantity takeoffs and cost estimates based on construction drawings and specifications.
- Develop project budgets from early conceptual phases through final bid preparation.
- Perform cost analysis and ensure complete trade coverage for all scopes of work.
- Coordinate with leadership and the project team during preconstruction and bid development.
- Analyze drawings, specifications, and site conditions to identify potential risks or cost considerations.
- Organize and maintain project documentation, estimate files, and bid packages.
- Support project turnover by ensuring budgets and scope information are clearly documented for the construction team.
- High school diploma or equivalent is required. Post high school education and/or vocational / technical training is highly desired.
- Minimum 5 years of construction estimating experience required.
- Experience estimating high‑rise residential reconstruction, renovation, or complex interior projects preferred.
- Proficiency with Plan Swift for quantity takeoffs.
- Experience using Procore construction management software.
- Strong Excel and spreadsheet analysis skills.
- Highly organized with strong file management and document control practices.
- Analytical, resourceful, and detail‑oriented approach to project costing.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
