Role Description
Do you enjoy working outdoors and contributing to community efforts that make the world greener? Join our dynamic team of Engineers and Arborists to improve the green infrastructure of NYC. We are seeking a Construction Inspector for NYC Parks projects in all boroughs. This full‑time position includes intermittent overtime.
You will guide the City’s tree preservation and street tree programs, conduct inspections, and manage construction activities to ensure safety, compliance, and coordination with city agencies. You will meet with contractors, track progress, and report to the resident engineer, project lead, and professional engineer.
Accountabilities- Conduct daily inspections, supervise and control construction activities.
- Monitor and supervise contractor performance.
- Perform on‑site measurements, track quantities, and assist design work.
- Maintain daily, weekly, and expert tracking records.
- Verify quantities and line items with contractors and client.
- Hold field meetings with contractors and owners.
- Act as an ambassador for the city’s urban forest resources.
- Administer all H&S procedures per owner and H&S manual.
- 2+ years of related construction and/or civil engineering experience.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a closely related field.
- Capital Contract Supervision Oversight
- Construction/Restoration Oversight
- OSHA 10 Certification
- EIT Certification
- Experience in water/wastewater field.
- Strong skills in Microsoft Excel and SharePoint.
- Excellent verbal and written communication.
- Independent and collaborative teamwork.
- Proficiency reading design plans, specs, and shop drawings.
- Detail oriented, strong work ethic, and ability to be mentored.
Salary: $35.00‑$40.00/HR. Benefits include medical, dental, vision, EAP, 401K, STD, LTD, AD&D, life insurance, paid parental leave, reward & recognition program, wellbeing benefits, adoption assistance, tuition reimbursement. Nine paid holidays and 15 days PTO accrue annually.
